Seats
The majority of 3 wheel double buggies are designed as single pushchairs. Some models can be converted to accommodate an additional seat by using adapters. You'll also find that some models let you include a ride-onboard for older children who wish to walk but still need some help.
Take a look at the Joie Evalite Duo for an ideal, lightweight solution for city streets. It's a breeze to move and comes with a large basket that has plenty of storage space. It can accommodate twins from at birth and will accept two car seats, or a carrycot that has a seat. The seats must be facing towards the front and there is no space to store an item under the seat. You will require a sidepack.
If you like to travel off-road then the Mountain Buggy Duet is a good choice. It's a side by side model with the slimmest footprint of any double buggy on the market. This allows it to fit through narrow doors and on public transport and allows you to climb up and down kerbs without too much trouble. It also has a handbrake on the adjustable handlebar to provide additional security and safety.
Another option that is lightweight is the UPPAbaby Vista 2 Double, which can be used for twins or a baby and toddler. The seats have multi-position reclining and UPF 50+ sunshades, and the canopy can be adjusted to keep the sun from your child's eyes. The Vista 2 can be converted into an UPPAbaby triple by incorporating UPPAbaby's 'PiggyBack’ board for older children.
The iCandy Orange double buggies are among the most well-known available. This is due to their exceptional comfort. It's an all-terrain pushchair with soft suspension that can easily handle bumpy surfaces. It can accommodate up to 30 seating configurations, and comes with a built-in ride-on for older children who prefer to walk, as well as a 'cinema' seating mode that raises the back seat to allow for better visibility.
The phil&teds dots are fantastic single buggys that can be easily modified to accommodate two (or three!) Different configurations are possible. This is particularly useful for parents who have children in your car. The frame can be adapted to a wedgie, which permits optimal lie-flat positioning. Or car seat adapters that can be used with a wide range of brands.
Suspension
The suspension of a triple wheeled buggy will determine the ease with which your child/children and you can push it. It is essential to enjoy a smooth ride since babies feel every bump in the road. This is particularly true if you are driving on rough terrain, such as grass or roads that are not paved. Some models have front tires that lock to help maneuver and get over obstacles like curbs.
Some models use air-filled tyres that provide a fantastic all-terrain adventure, but they could be prone to punctures, therefore, make sure you have a spare set in the trunk. Others have foam or gel tyres that are specifically designed to handle bumps and can be less susceptible to punctures, however, you may find them to be a bit stiff and uncomfortable on your child's back should you decide to run.

MFM reviewer Kath took the Urban Glide 2 through its paces with her newborn and 3 years old son, and found it was able to handle difficult terrain: "it navigated effortlessly over bumpy pavements and grass cobbles, dirt tracks and cobbles easily and was able to manoeuvre around corners and go up and down kerbs. The 16" rear wheels, coupled with the lockable swivel wheel on the front, create a very stable jogging experience. Folding
A three-wheel double buggy folds very neatly to be stored. There are models that fold flat, stand up (as though they were in the form of a pushchair) and those that open to reveal a more umbrella-style folding with a hand-operated break. The more wheels the buggy has, generally the more easy it will be to maneuver over rough terrain. This is especially true if your wheels are larger than average size. You will have more stability, and it is less likely that you will be forced to flip or tip your child.
The iCandy Wave is a popular choice. It can be used in conjunction with an infant car-seat as early as birth and then converted into a double buggy side-by-side when your child is old. It's a comfortable and light-feeling model that makes it simple to push and is packed with extra features like bumper bars and a raincover.
Another option is the phil&teds sport that is a future-proof model since it's great as a single buggy from day dot and then adjusts to accommodate 2 (or even 3!)
